| She
sings, she writes, she draws, and she decorates - she’s an artist
in every sense of the word. Ashthon Jones was born to create and her unique
R&B/Urban sound is infectious. Ashthon’s debut EP, “Introducing
Ashthon Jones,” along with the video premiere of her single “Like
This” are scheduled for commercial release in December 2008. Born
in Joplin, Missouri, Jones divided her childhood between her mom in Nashville
and her godparents in Valdosta, Georgia. Influenced by her Georgia family’s
musical talent - and artists such as Mariah Carey and Destiny’s
Child - she began singing gospel songs in church. When Jones was only
six years old, she had the opportunity to perform with recording artist
and Nashville native Amy Grant on her CCM hit, “My Father’s
Eyes.” Ashthon relocated to Miami, Florida, when she was fifteen
years old, a move which would make a huge impact on her life. “The
life experiences and lessons I learned there molded me into the person
I am today,” she reflects. These experiences caused Ashthon to concentrate
seriously on her musical dreams. In 2006, Ashthon relocated to Nashville,
diving immediately into its music scene. She began writing gospel songs,
singing at various open mic nights, and became the house singer for a
local club. That gig landed her a spot behind the microphone as a backup
singer for Corey Clark, a former American Idol contestant. When she wasn’t
waiting tables, writing songs, or singing, she would hang out at local
music video shoots. It was at one of the video shoots that she met Bar-None,
a record producer who had recently signed with Nashville-based Murrah
Colton Entertainment. “I didn’t believe anything he was telling
me because so many other producers had said the same thing and nothing
would happen, so I wasn’t even going to give him a chance,”
she remembers. That didn’t stop Bar-None from pursuing her talent.
She finally met him at his studio on Music Row where she learned he was
the real deal. Ashthon states: “Bar-None and I really vibe together.
We’ve been that way ever since our first time in the studio. He
brings a lot out of me musically that I didn’t know I had.”
Ashthon is signed with Murrah Colton Entertainment. “This is a life
changing opportunity and the first step to my growth as a songwriter and
an artist,” says Jones. “I’m all in now.” |
